Fishing for memories of a lost noodler

Noodlin’ ain’t easy. But compared to losing a brother, it doesn’t seem that hard. That’s what was on 11-year old Jared Nickel’s mind as he and his cousin Josh Hutchison ventured out on to the Salt Fork River on Friday to catch some catfish for the Shidler Volunteer Fire Department’s Noodling Tournament. Jared’s brother, Jacob, died on June 12 in a rollover accident near Helena. He was driving down Carter Road when he lost control of his Nissan pickup, flipped it, and died at the age of 19.
