Family farriers carry on a vanishing art

Steve Hughes is a familiar presence at a lot of Osage County rodeos, but especially the Cavalcade, where he is one of the few photographers who stays in the arena during bull or bronc riding while others perch safely on or behind a fence. Photography is the one talent, his dad Dale Hughes said, that sprang up in his son with little encouragement from his family in Salem, Mo.
