SAM D. McCLAIN passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home in Pawhuska. He was 84 years old.
Sam Della McClain was born August 9, 1927 in Groveton, Texas, the son of Hager and Della (Johnson) McClain. A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1950, Sam and Mary Rose Tinker were married in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death October 1, 2006. Sam owned and operated his own printing equipment sales and repair shop. An avid knife collector, he also operated a small cattle ranch.
Surviving are: His children: Addie McClain and Frank McClain; His grandchildren: Tate Hearn, Nathan Hauth, John McClain, Melissa McClain, Serdjan Rolovic and Luka Rolovic; Eight great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. In addition to his wife, Sam was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sylvia McClain.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28, 10:00AM, at McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, OK. Mongrain Lookout will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Graveside military honors will provided by the American Legion Post 198.
