WYNONA SCHOOL NEWS-SUPERINTENDENT’S NOTES
Students should be in class and learning through May 18. 10 absences without acceptable documentation create an F in any subject. 3 tardies make an absence. They add up quickly. Students should be in school! There is no school on May 11. There is school on May 18.
If students are interested in participating in the talent show, they need to turn in their talents to Ms. Hurd to get on the list. Some classes will be taking field trips during the last weeks of school, please keep in contact with the school if you have questions. Testing is almost completed. Thank you to the students and parents for taking the time to make the testing important. We will also be sending out surveys next week. These surveys are for information to send to the state department and they will help our school to make improvements. We would appreciate everyone returning them as soon as possible. If you know of a child or have a child who will be 4 years old by September 1, 2012, and who is planning to attend our school, please check with the office as soon as possible for early enrollment!
We are still looking for a math and a science teacher for next year. We are also seeking a qualified person to serve as our custodian/maintenance person. Please contact the school if interested!
VETERANS NEED HELP?
Lee Webb will be available on Fridays at Wynona Town Hall from 11:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to assist the local veterans with their benefits. He will not be here on the second Friday of each month, but will be here on the other Fridays. Mr Webb has been instrumental in helping many veterans in the area and he does this strictly on a volunteer basis. If anyone knows of a veteran who needs help with their paperwork or benefits, come to town hall and visit with Mr Webb. Those who need help with their military records can contact Tennie Slone at Wynona Town Hall and we can do online tracking of records. The DD214 is a very important record and it can be requested online. Just call 846-2526 for appointment or come by during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
FOUNDERS DAY APPROACHING
Wynonans are reminded that Founders Day is Saturday, June 9th and people need to be making their plans. Lots of volunteers are needed and ideas are needed, also. Anyone who can volunteer time, money, goods, etc, please contact Tennie Slone at Wynona Town Hall. The Country Express Band, a long time favorite for Founders Day in the past will be playing the music for the street dance from 8 p.m. until midnight. Also, anyone who has ideas for activities on Founders Day can also contact Town Hall. This is also an alumni year and everyone should be making sure their addresses have been updated so they can get their reservations in. Wynonans are also reminded that we will be asking residents town wide to start cleaning up their property so that our town will look nice for visitors. We will be having the big dumpsters in soon for people to get rid of their old stuff. Let’s make this a fun, exciting Founders Day!
CLEAN UP WYNONA DAYS COMING SOON
Plans are in the works for Clean Up Wynona, in an effort to get the town and people ready for Founder’s Day and Alumni activities on June 9th. The dumpster will be in town on the last weekend in May for Wynona people to get rid of their trash for the cleanup. The Town Utility Department workers have already been busy cleaning out alleys and streets. Please help us clean up Wynona again this year!
WYNONA FIRE DEPARTMENT SELLING RIBS
The Wynona Fire Department is having a barbecue rib sale to raise money to outfit their latest truck for fire ready. The ribs are $15.50 per side and will be cooked to perfection by Wild Country Meats! Orders must be in by May 18th and will be delivered on or around May 29th. Ribs can be ordered from any Wynona Firefighter, or by calling Town Hall at 918-846-2526. Help us to raise money for this worthy cause!
TOWN HALL CLOSED FOR COURT CLERK SCHOOL
The Wynona Town Hall will be closed on May 9-10 and 11th so that the Town Court Clerk, Tennie Slone, and Deputy Court Clerk, Janet Delaney can attend the annual training in Stillwater. The water bills can be dropped off in the drop box on those days and because we will not be open, the late charges will not apply until the 13th.
